Warm terracotta against deep forest green — outdoors, late in the day.
Swallows is drawn rather than assembled. A pair of birds carrying an olive branch heads the invitation, the welcome sign and the seating chart; a scalloped double frame holds the pieces that are objects rather than reading matter — the reply card, the place card, the number on the table. The script is copperplate, the labels are wide-set caps, and nothing else is asked to do any work.
Colour is fixed per piece instead of chosen once for the whole suite, and the alternation is the design. White cards for what a guest reads closely, warm terracotta for what they hold, forest green for the two pieces that are a list. Put the set on a table and it reads as one thing that happens to come in three colours, rather than a palette applied evenly to thirteen rectangles.
It goes well past the invitation and the reply card. A save the date months ahead, a belly band to wrap the envelope, a favour tag, table numbers, an 18×24 seating chart and a thank-you card for afterwards — the pieces a wedding actually needs, in the same hand, so nothing on the day looks borrowed from somewhere else.
The warm one: earth colours instead of jewel colours.
